God created us as sexual beings. Therefore, as such we will have sexual thoughts and desires. Sexual thoughts, sexual feelings at seemingly inappropriate times, or becoming aroused when noticing someone of the opposite gender are not causes for alarm in and of themselves. I’m afraid that generally speaking as the church in our desire to be pure we’ve become prudish and squashed any sexual desire dubbing it as impure and sinful. The problem is not our sexuality, the problem is what we do with our sexuality. Dirt or sand at the beach is not thought of as filthy or out of place. Dirt in a garden or in a yard that is about to be seeded is completely natural and no clearly thinking person would attempt to vacuum up “the mess” as they look in disgust at the gardener or grounds keeper for allowing the place to become so untidy. So it is with our sexual thoughts. There is a proper place for them, and any other place they show up just makes things messy.
If your sexual thoughts seem out of control, and are making your life messy it may be time to consider the fact that you are using sexual fantasizing in an unhealthy way. There is a better way, and there is hope for you. I encourage you to reach out for help today, and see what Jesus can and will do for you! Freedom is possible.
